History of theEword
theEword was founded in 2006 by Al Mackin and Tom Glass, as the demand for commercially focused online marketing agencies grew. Both had been on the client side before – Al when he was head of e-commerce for Celltalk PLC and Tom when he worked with internet retail specialists Shop Direct – and they saw a gap in the market for a web agency that would buy into its clients’ targets while providing a complete search marketing solution, from the formulation of the strategy right through to the successful execution of the campaign.
With early client wins including IGT and Managed Communications, theEword grew and grew. In 2010 the team numbered 15, and theEword relocated to its own dedicated office in Trafford Park. Our focus on quality and future proof techniques allowed us to continue to deliver sterling results in the face of changes such as Panda, Penguin and Enhanced Campaigns. Over the years, our core services have diversified to provide a full service to clients, with teams now specialising in creative content production and social advertising.
Today, theEword has grown to a team of more than 40 people, and works with renowned brands including Merlin Entertainments, Warburtons, TJ Hughes, Genting Casino, Parasol, Atkins and Pannone. The company has also received several awards from industry bodies, including being named one of the Top 4 UK marketing agencies by The Drum magazine as well as earning an RAR accreditation for its services.
