Google launches real-time Google Analytics
A Google Analytics upgrade
Google has announced that it will be upgrading the services available on Google Analytics by introducing a real-time feature, a new design and a premium package.
Previously, Google Analytics was only able to analyse and evaluate the past performance of a site. The introduction of the Real-Time feature will allow users to view minute-by-minute data as well as statistics regarding the past usage of a site. This upgrade to Google Analytics will enable people to see the interest and activity surrounding their site at any given moment.
Google has stated that the Real-Time feature will allow people to see the impact of social media. John Jersin, a member of the Google Analytics team stated: “Whenever we put out a new blog post, we also send out a tweet. With Real-Time, I can see the immediate impact to my site traffic.” This ability to see instantaneous results means that people can tailor their use of social media and advertising to make it even more effective for their site.
To allow larger companies to learn more about their customer base, and how people are accessing their site, Google has also launched a Google Analytics Premium package. The companies that are willing to pay extra for this service are set to receive advanced analysis, increased data and constant support.
Google Analytics makeover
Google Analytics has also been given a simple new design where the primary navigation has been condensed into three tabs. The Home Tab will give an overview of a site, complete with dashboard and alerts. Standard Reporting will show data regarding the audience of a site, the impact of advertising and the level of traffic. And the Custom Reporting tab will let users build their own reports so that they can receive the individual data that they require.
