Facebook rolls out real-time analytics

Facebook is set to introduce real-time analytics for Pages. This addition will enable administrators to view activity on the social media site as it happens.

The analytics update will occur on Facebook Insights – a tool which allows administrators to see metrics for their Pages. The live data will be available for Page administrators around the globe and it has been speculated that it will include real-time results for People Talking About This and Reach. In regards to the analytics tool, Facebook stated: “By understanding and analyzing trends within user growth and demographics, consumption of content, and creation of content, admins and developers are better equipped to improve their business with Facebook.”

This Facebook update comes months after Google Analytics upgraded its services to include real-time analytics. The live data from Google enables businesses to analyse the performance of their site, and see the immediate effect on traffic following a social media update or advertisement launch.

Advantages of real-time analytics for Facebook Brand Pages

The real-time analytics within Facebook Insights should help businesses to document the success of their social media campaigns. They will able to measure the immediate impact of their content and advertising, and review if they have been able to engage successfully with Facebook fans.

Richard Frost, managing editor at theEword, said: “The Facebook Insights real-time analytics will be a useful tool for companies looking to improve their social media presence as they will be able to see instant results and tweak their approach if they do not receive the desired amount of attention.”
