Bing Ads in Smart Search results
Microsoft has unveiled that Windows 8.1 will be made available in late August.
The company has also recently announced that Bing Ads will be included in Smart Search, a new search experience available in the upcoming Windows 8.1.
The feature has been designed to allow users to search across the web, their devices, apps and the cloud. It therefore also gives advertisers an opportunity to further connect users with ads that are highly relevant to their search queries.
David Pann, General Manager at Microsoft Advertising Search Group, said: "A key part of this journey is our pursuit of making search ever more relevant and engaging for consumers as their experiences evolve across new devices and platforms."
Useful information for advertisers
Campaigns on the Yahoo Bing Network will automatically be eligible for the new feature, with ads showing for users who choose to install Windows 8.1 and use Smart Search. Currently, campaigns are already appearing for those using the preview mode.
In the June search engine market share, Bing and Yahoo held 8.88% percent of UK searches, a growth of 0.52% from the previous month. The increase in search volume could mean that a wider volume of people are likely to see ads in the upcoming Windows 8.1 Smart Search, a feature that may also attract the attention of even more users.
Natalie Booth, head of search at theEword, said: "While Google holds 89.69% of the search market share, with its search ads having a wider reach, Microsoft appears to be working hard to make gains on the search engine giant."
