Content is king in SEO

Website owners have been reminded about the importance of regularly posting fresh content – a process that can be outsourced to a commercial copywriting service.

Scott Smoot, of SEO.com, issued the reminder after Google Analytics reported a "huge drop" in traffic on one of his personal blogs recently. Investigating further, he noticed that his site had slipped off the first page of Google for its number one keyword.

This apparently stemmed from the fact that Mr Smoot had not updated the blog for almost fourth months while competitors had made alterations on a regular basis. Having identified the possible cause, he quickly posted a new message on the blog. And his theory was proven correct when Google Analytics showed the site had recovered its old ranking and even added more traffic than before.

Commercial copywriters can supply fresh content

Dan Nolan, managing editor at theEword, has underlined the importance of fresh content. "Our experience of managing SEO strategies for clients shows that search engines like regularly updated websites," he said. "A quality commercial copywriting service offers a constant stream of fresh and relevant copy, which can boost search engine rankings and overall traffic."

Of course, website owners should not forget that copy needs to be well-written as well as fresh. Recently, natural search specialist Rob Ousbey explained that quality content can attract external links that are beyond the reach of competitors. These were defined as the "most valuable links you can get" in terms of boosting SEO. However, he added that the "overwhelming influencer" behind the success or failure of linkbaiting strategies is whether content is of a higher standard than competitor sites.
