Google Product Search comes to Android-enabled devices and iPhones.
UK and US users of smart phones can now view Google's product-finding service on their devices wherever they are.
People can see online ratings, reviews, prices, and product details – all the features of the static Google Product Search – whether they are on their local high street or in their living room.
Google Product Search, formerly known as Froogle, aims to help consumers make better-informed shopping decisions with its features.
The search giant’s price comparison site was launched in 2002 after several years in beta, and works through users typing product queries into Google’s signature HTML form field. Google Product Search then returns lists of companies selling a particular product, plus pricing details.
Companies to use Google Base to keep customers informed
Google Product Search does not charge for listings, accept payments for ranking and makes no commission on sales – any company can enter product information through Google Base. It is essentially an organic, real-time search service for shoppers who want neutral advice.
Advertising is sold through Google’s AdWords, and is displayed in Product Search results adjacent to the unpaid results.
Google Product Search is the latest improvement to mobile internet access on Android devices and iPhones. Formatting makes sites easier to use on internet-enabled devices with less power. One example of formatting is when page dimensions are narrowed and tweaked to fit smaller screens.
