Bing increases market shareThe battle of the search engines continues, with recent figures revealing that Bing gained one per cent of the market share in July.
Although a relatively small percentage, it proves that Bing is making steady progress in the search engine world.
The telling figures come from Statcounter, which revealed that Bing managed to increase its share of the US search market to 9.41 per cent in July from 8.23 per cent in June. In contrast, Google’s search engine market share dropped from 78.48 per cent in June, to 77.54 per cent in July.
Bing and Yahoo – stronger together?
While the threat from Bing alone may not cause Google executives sleepless nights, Bing’s headway, coupled with its recent partnership with Yahoo, could cause a ripple of concern.
The two search engines recently joined forces in a bid to create a stronger force against Google.
Whether the collaboration will be enough to knock
Google off its lofty perch in the search engine world remains to be seen.
In terms of global market share, Bing and Yahoo have an even steeper mountain to climb, although again, steady progress can be seen. Google occupied 89.23 per cent of the market share in July, down a touch from 89.90 per cent in June. Bing and Yahoo’s combined global search market share was 8.77 per cent in July up from 8.45 per cent in June.
