LinkedIn introduces new statistics dashboard

LinkedIn has introduced a Group Statistics dashboard, providing group leaders and prospective members with insight into the demographics, growth and activity of a page.

LinkedIn, a business-oriented social media site, has recently announced that its users created over 1 million groups over the third quarter of 2011. Due to this significant growth, the company has introduced a new LinkedIn Group Statistics dashboard. Anita Lillie, data visualization designer at LinkedIn stated: "We've designed each infographic view to highlight the most important signals you'll need to help you understand your group better."

The new Linked In Group dashboard will not only allow users to analyse their own group for its audience, activity and growth. It will also give members a chance to gain insight into a LinkedIn group before they join.

LinkedIn Group Statistics dashboard: the three new features

There are three new features appearing on the new LinkedIn Statistics dashboard for Groups:

  • The Demographics tab allows group owners to view the job roles, seniority and locations of their members. This will enable groups to understand their audience even better, and also allow potential members to see whether they fit into the demographic.
  • The Growth feature documents how well a group is developing over time. Group owners will be able to track their improvements and analyse the causes of their advancements. It will also allow prospective members to view the popularity of a group, to judge whether it is worth joining.
  • The Activity tab allows group owners to analyse the conversations and discussions on their group. They can see who starts conversations and contributes regularly, and can also view any recent promotions occurring within the group.

Daniel Nolan, general manager at theEword said: "The introduction of a LinkedIn Group Statistics dashboard will be a great way of gaining insight into a group. Owners will be able to keep a close eye on how their business is performing on LinkedIn. The new LinkedIn dashboard will also help potential members understand more about a group and see if it is suitable for them and their business or networking needs."
