The new Samsung Galaxy S3
In a bid to maintain strong sales and stay ahead in the smartphone market, Samsung has released the Galaxy S3.
The Samsung site describes the Galaxy S3 as: "Designed for humans, it goes beyond smart and fulfils your needs by thinking as you think, acting as you act." To enhance user experience and contend with market competitors, the smartphone contains S Voice - a features that allows Galaxy S3 owners to make spoken commands to the device.
Along with a voice assistant to rival the iPhone 4S's Siri, the Samsung Galaxy S3 also comes with S Beam to make sharing content easier, Smart Stay which can recognise where an eye is looking on the screen and Direct Call which can connect calls through movement.
The size of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is also bigger - its 4.8in screen is larger than the 3.5in iPhone 4S and the Galaxy S2 with its 4.3in screen. In fact, the new device is closer in size to the Galaxy Note which comes with a 5.3in screen.
Maintaining that top smartphone slot
The addition of a new Galaxy smartphone shows how Samsung is attempting to remain ahead of its competitors. During the first quarter of 2012, independent research firm Strategy Analytics found that Samsung sold more smartphones than any other company. With 44.5 million devices shipped, Samsung leads the smartphone market with 30.6 per cent of the market share.
Tom Glass, creative director at theEword said: "As the successful first quarter was mainly due to the success of the existing Galaxy smartphones, the introduction of a new Galaxy device suggests that Samsung is attempting to build upon this popularity. The features added to the S3 come together to create an improved Galaxy smartphone that should attract plenty of interest from consumers."
