Twitter trials new list feature

Micro-blogging website Twitter is trialling a feature which allows users to quickly recommended groups of individuals to other members.

Social media news website Mashable reported the new function would give account holders the chance to create a selection of user lists, offering other members the opportunity to easily 'follow' a number of individuals at once.

Adam Ostrow, the editor-in-chief at Mashable described how the new application would work:

"Twitter appears to be in the midst of rolling out its new 'Lists' feature that allows users to create a list of people that others can follow with one-click.

To create a list, just go to your Twitter page, where ther?s now a section on the right-hand sidebar called?Lists? Click?New Lis? and yo?re on your way to giving your followers an easy way to follow your favorite Twitter users."

Twitter explains it all

An official statement on the Twitter blog read:

"We started working on this feature because of the frequent requests we received from people who were looking for a better way to organize information on Twitter. Of course, that means not just twitter.com - the Platform team will follow up in a few days with information on the Lists API. This will allow developers to add support for Lists into your favorite Twitter apps"

Currently, users can recommend other accounts via a 140-character message. The 'Follow Friday' meme? where individuals list Twitter members on the final day of the working week? has become an established method of promoting other members on the service.
