Chris Sheffield has built a reputation as a specialist at building up new companies into big names in their respective industries. His work in this field over the last 23 years has seen him become involved in projects in Manchester, China and all over the world.

Beginning his career in a management capacity with British Aerospace, Chris moved on to international accountancy and consultancy firm Deloitte. Chris's eleven years at Deloitte saw him reach principal partner status before leaving in 1998.

Chris spent the next part of his career building up a reputation as one of the country's most successful and respected technology entrepreneurs. He took Million-2-1 Ltd from a start-up company to the largest mobile gaming business in the UK, gaining a patent for the reverse auction system which is now so prevalent in mobile text-to-win competitions. His creation revolutionised bidding contests and has become popular across the world.

Million-2-1 was purchased by US giant International Game Technology (IGT) in June 2008, and Chris continued to be involved in the business as director and general manager of remote gaming for IGT-UK. A year later he left the company to pursue his own ventures, leaving behind a legacy of accomplishments that encompassed his work to bring famous online slots titles such as Rainbow Riches and Cleopatra to mobile platforms including the iPhone, as well as heading up the team that launched the successful online casino Kerching.

Chris Sheffield currently spends his time working with new and existing start-ups. He was appointed chairman of theEword in March 2010, and since then has been an active member of the company's board, helping to shape strategy and acting as an ambassador for the business.
