Emily joined theEword team at the start of 2010 for a three-month placement within the company's online marketing department, organised through her participation in the Manchester Masters scheme, which is aimed at keeping the best graduate talent in the area. She studied Physiology at the University of Manchester and is working towards a Master's degree in her spare time.
Emily's video entry for the Manchester Masters competition saw her explaining that she didn't want to be "a crazy scientist," an assertion she's stuck by during her involvement in the scheme, with a move into the world of marketing and business.
This is her third placement to date and the second spent at an agency, during which time she's found a particular interest in PPC marketing and conversion rates. While Emily is still undecided as to what her dream job would be, she likes that her Manchester Masters placements allow her to experience different roles.
Emily lives in Manchester's fashionable Northern Quarter and spends most of her spare time working towards her Master's degree, although she does find a few moments each week to indulge in her favourite hobbies – namely, shopping, dim sum food and visiting coffee shops with friends.
