Rachel is theEword’s head of content, having joined as a writer in 2010. Previously she gained experience in journalism and languages and studied for an NCTJ qualification in sub-editing.

At theEword, Rachel’s day-to-day role involves planning and writing SEO content on client websites, creating content strategies based on keyword rankings and performance. She also oversees theEword’s team of content writers.

Before joining the agency, Rachel obtained a certificate in sub-editing with the NCTJ. Her journalism work began in college with articles for the North Wales Weekly News, and later the Warwick Boar. Her more recent work includes music reviews and interviews, as well as travel writing; however, she maintains her most valuable knowledge comes from work experience as an Editorial Assistant at Big Issue in the North.

Rachel studied English and French at Warwick, spending a year at Bordeaux University before graduating in 2009. She is therefore fluent in French, as well as her native Welsh; voracious reading in all three languages was what made her want to become a writer. Her short fiction won her several prizes as a teenager, and more recently she was published in an anthology of modern Welsh literature.

Away from the office Rachel enjoys music, craft and reading. She is a passionate vegetarian and a not-so-passionate gym member.
