More theEword Staff Richard is an NCTJ-qualified journalist who started as an SEO copywriter in the summer of 2006. His previous roles in the media include serving as Theatre Editor at online magazine Durham21.co.uk and Sports Editor at Durham University newspaper Palatinate.

A willingness to pester the great and good of journalism has helped him build a varied portfolio of news articles, features and reviews for InTheNews.co.uk, the Times, the Southport Visiter, the Watford Observer and the Liverpool Echo.

When he's not writing copy for theEword, Richard dabbles in PR for the voluntary sector. He has been known to produce woeful decorations for Oxjam music festival and fire convoluted questions at bemused local dignitaries for the Community Foundation for Greater Manchester.

He is also an avid traveller and recently spent five months exploring the Far East. On the rare occasions when Richard wasn't updating his travel blog, he even managed to find time for a bit of sightseeing. He now has his heart set on a trip to Latin America - although how he will fund this pipe dream remains to be seen.

In the meantime, Richard enjoys a fulfilling life back in his native Chorlton. His hobbies include books, football and books about football.
