Rick became a part of theEword online marketing department at the beginning of 2010 after graduating with a BSc in Management from the University of Manchester and taking part in the previous year's Manchester Masters scheme. He will spend three months working under online marketing manager Mark Baker.
Rick's work placement at theEword puts him in perfect stead for the career he hopes to pursue - working as a marketing account manager or in brand management. He's very technically minded, with a firm grasp of the tools used in online marketing; again something that will benefit him immeasurably during the course of his tenure.
The video which Rick submitted as his entry to the Manchester Masters scheme showed him holding a conversation with himself on a sofa, using split screen in a peculiarly Jekyll and Hyde-style affair. Thankfully, Rick is single-minded when it comes to his career, knowing exactly what he wants.
In his spare time, Rick likes to play guitar – "Radiohead tunes mainly" – and was formerly a member of a band which went on a 10-date tour of the UK, visiting Newcastle, Scotland and other locations nationwide. He recently decided to quit the band in order to focus on his career, but still enjoys holidaying (he just went skiing for the first time and "nearly died") and socialising (he's a big fan of Subspace on New Wakefield Street).
