Google movie imminent after website leak
Leak reveals Google ‘biopic’
Google: The Movie appears set to hit cinema screens around the world next year after a leaked test webpage was discovered online.
The page, found at GoogleTheMovie.co.uk reveals a big letter ‘O’, styled like the letters in the Google logo, along with the text ‘November 2012’ in the company’s traditional colours of red, yellow, blue and green.
No further details on the project have been released, but the rumour mill has already linked Oscar-winner Christian Bale with a key role, while Matt Damon and rapper-turned-actor RZA are also said to be in the frame to play Google co-founders Sergey Brin or Larry Page, or even current CEO Eric Schmidt.
Keeping up with Facebook
The leak comes only days after Google’s US launch of ‘+1’, an approval system seen by many as similar to the Facebook ‘Like’ function. Comparisons between the two companies may now continue to be drawn in the wake of last year’s Facebook biopic The Social Network.
However, while The Social Network received several nods at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, Google will hope to establish a better relationship with Hollywood than Facebook currently enjoys.
Last year, Miley Cyrus and George Clooney were among the stars criticising Facebook and social media sites in general as being a dangerous platform for children. Cyrus called the internet “dangerous” while Clooney remarked he’d “rather have a prostate exam live on TV given by a guy with very cold hands than have a Facebook page.”

Update 2: April Fools! Google isn’t making a movie, but we do hope that one day The RZA gets to play Larry Page.
