Phil Neville app launched
iPhone apps spread to the pitch
Professional footballers have joined the race to launch iPhone apps, although you may be surprised to learn who is leading the field.
Phil Neville Football Training aims to provide an insight into the life of the Everton and former Manchester United defender. The iPhone app will show match footage from Phil Neville’s career, as well as training techniques, mental and physical preparation for match days, diet tips and advice on issues such as which boots to wear. It is available from iTunes with a special launch price of 59p.
The app has been developed by entertainment and sports company 84 World. Phil Neville Football Training is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad, although it requires a minimum operating system of iOS 3.0.
On iTunes, the official product description explains the inspiration behind the project:
“When coming up with the concept for the iPhone app, Phil remembered when he was growing up how he always wanted to know how the professionals trained and prepared for match days. Now he is in a position where he can pass on a lot of useful tips and information.”
The description also asserts that Phil Neville Football Training is the first app from a Premier League footballer. However, West Ham striker Carlton Cole has wasted no time in following suit. The Carlton Cole Official App promises to discuss football and non-football matters, even to the extent of showing him “sitting at home playing computer games with my mates”.
