The Telegraph has launched a free iPad app after striking a major launch sponsorship deal.
Available now, the Telegraph iPad app gives users the chance to download news, features, sport, finance and comment from the UK’s top-selling quality daily, reports Media Week. Fresh content can be accessed daily from 5am, which could help it to build a loyal readership among commuters.
Audi is the launch sponsor for the Telegraph iPad app
The Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has been able to release its first iPad app without charging by sealing a deal with German car giant Audi. Under the terms of the agreement, Audi is sponsoring the app for the first 12 weeks only.
Matt Cory, creative planning director of Create at TMG, has welcomed the development. “We hope the launch of the iPad app will give a new audience and our existing readers the opportunity to sample the Telegraph in a dynamic way. With Audi supporting us as a launch sponsor, we are delighted to be able to offer the first version of the application to iPad owners, free of charge.”
Telegraph Media Group joins a growing list of media organisations delivering content on the iPad. BBC News and the Financial Times both offer apps that give users the chance to read the latest headlines on the move. Meanwhile, the Guardian’s Eyewitness app provides access to the newspaper’s extensive photographic library.
