Bill Gates declares Bing superior to Google

Bill Gates – Bing is superior to Google

Bill Gates has stated that he believes Bing to be a superior search engine to Google, speaking in an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on the highly popular website Reddit.

Responding to a question on which search engine employees at Microsoft used, he responded “Seriously Bing is the better product at this point. Try the challenge. I am biased but the work to make Bing better has been amazing”. The challenge mentioned by Gates was the ‘Bing It On‘ contest the search engine released last year, which compared results from Google and Bing side by side.

The founder of Microsoft was speaking to promote his website Gates Notes and the various projects he has been running for several years, searching for vaccines for diseases such as Malaria and AIDS.

Contrasting subjects discussed by Gates

As well as tackling questions related to Microsoft and his relationship with the Apple founder Steve Jobs, there were also a number of questions answered on more unusual topics. When asked if he would prefer to fight one horse-sized duck or a hundred duck-sized horses, he replied:”I like taking on big problems, like new vaccines, so I would pick a horse sized duck”. In other personal questions, he revealed he had $100 in his wallet at that moment and enjoyed skiing and “jumping over chairs”.

Natalie Booth, head of search at theEword, commented: “While Bill Gates admitted himself he was biased, it is a significant boost for Bing to receive this sort of recommendation for its service. The most recent study of the search engine market revealed that around 90 per cent of the market in the United Kingdom belonged to Google, meaning that Bing still has an extremely difficult job on its hands to make any kind of inroads into Google’s dominance.”
